👤 Profile Management Documentation

Profile Management is like having different "modes" for your AI tools - similar to how a camera has portrait mode, landscape mode, and night mode. Each profile is optimized for specific types of work, with pre-configured settings for models, quality levels, cost preferences, and performance priorities.

Why You Need Profile Management

Without Profiles:

  • Manual configuration for each task type
  • Inconsistent settings across different work
  • Forgetting optimal configurations
  • No easy way to switch between setups

With Profiles:

  • Instant Optimization - One command switches to perfect settings
  • Consistent Quality - Same great results every time
  • Task-Specific Tuning - Optimized for coding, writing, research, etc.
  • Team Collaboration - Share proven configurations
  • Cost Control - Different budgets for different work types

👤 Account Management

Switching Between User Accounts

If you need to use different Hive AI accounts or have multiple team members sharing a device:

# Log out current user (clears all profiles and license cache)
hive logout

# Log in with a different account
hive login
# This will prompt you to enter a new license key

Important: Logging out clears all custom profiles. After switching accounts, you may need to recreate custom profiles or use built-in ones.

What Happens When You Upgrade Your Plan?

Automatic Detection - Hive AI automatically detects plan upgrades! When you:

  1. Upgrade your subscription through the billing portal
  2. Hit your current usage limit (e.g., 10 conversations for free tier)
  3. Run any hive command - it will check for plan updates

The system will automatically:

  • Detect your new plan limits
  • Apply upgraded features immediately
  • Show a confirmation message
  • Continue your work seamlessly

No manual refresh needed! Your upgrade is detected and applied automatically.

Account Status & Profile Information

Every time you use hive, you'll see your current account info:

✅ License verified - premium tier - you@example.com - v1.20.8

This shows your current account status, which affects available profile features and usage limits.
